Practical Overview
RO storage tank sizing is not just tank volume. Usable drawdown depends on pressure, membrane production rate, household demand, and whether several people draw water in a short period.
Start by estimating peak drinking and cooking water demand, then compare it with the system recovery rate and tank usable capacity. A tank that looks large on paper may deliver less water than its nominal volume.
If water pressure is low or the household fills large bottles, check whether a tankless high-flow system or a larger tank is a better fit.
- •Estimate peak demand, not just daily average.
- •Check usable capacity, not only tank label volume.
- •Account for pressure and membrane production rate.
- •Maintenance and sanitizing still matter.
