Understanding Tankless and Tank RO Systems
Reverse osmosis (RO) systems are popular for delivering high-quality drinking water at home. The main difference between tankless and tank RO systems is how they store and deliver filtered water. Traditional tank RO systems use a pressurized storage tank to hold purified water, while tankless models filter water on demand without storage.
Tank RO systems have been around for decades and are widely available. Tankless RO systems are newer and use advanced filtration membranes and pumps to deliver water directly from the tap. Both types remove a broad range of contaminants, but their designs affect installation, flow rate, and maintenance.
- -Tank RO: Uses a storage tank; water is filtered and stored until needed.
- -Tankless RO: Filters water instantly; no storage tank required.
